Body:

The Village of Lake George’s office staff are receiving several calls concerning housing for foreign students who are employed as seasonal employees. Students wishing to work in the Lake George region must have housing before they are assigned a Visa permit. Student that are needed by the area will be denied their Visa if they do not have housing in place before arriving.

Most large employers like Great Escape, Lake George Steamboat Company, Sagamore, etc. provide housing for a majority of their students, according to Mayor Blais.

Smaller businesses depend on others to provide housing. The Village’s Student Connection will assist in this endeavor but does not begin operation until May 15.

This year a new Village Local Law requires that anyone housing students in residential areas obtain a permit as well.

Anyone wishing to house students seasonally should call the Lake George Village Hall at 668-5771 x8 and their housing will be listed with student recruitment agencies.
