Ray Chandler and Walter Marinelli honored for their contributions

At a dedication on July 10, 2010, the Village and Town honored the memories of two men who had a great impact on the recreation programs for Lake George. Walter Marinelli who was very instrumental in bringing the recreation center to reality working with Neil McPhillips, Mike Lanfear, and many others was honored by having the refreshment stand named in his honor, "Wally's Hut."  Ray Chandler, a teacher and a director of the Youth Commission for many years, had one of the ballfields name in his honor, "Ray Chandler Field."  For both individuals plaques were placed on boulders near the flag poles at the field.

 

During the ceremony those speaking included Mayor Blais, Supervisor McCoy, Neil McPhillips, Don Corsetti, and Delores Marinelli.  All noted the significant contribution both men had given to the youth of the Lake George area.
